The urgency of this moment demands bold, decisive action to restore trust, advance our legislative priorities, and demonstrate good governance. Our House Republican Conference is united, and eager to work.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Johnson wrote that as speaker, he \u2018will ensure the House delivers results and inspires change for the American people.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u2018We will restore trust in this body. We will advance a comprehensive conservative policy agenda, combat the harmful policies of the Biden Administration, and support our allies abroad,\u2019 Johnson wrote. \u2018And we will restore sanity to a government desperately in need of it. Let\u2019s get back to work.\u2019<\/p>\n<div class=\"embed-media twitter\">\n<div class=\"tweet-embed\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Republicans were ecstatic about the election of Johnson, with House Majority Whip Tom Emmer \u2014 who secured the GOP\u2019s speaker nomination on Tuesday before bowing out \u2014 writing his congratulations to the new speaker.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Congratulations to my friend and colleague, [Johnson], on being elected Speaker of the House!\u2019 Emmer posted.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018His strong convictions and commitment to conservatism will serve this body and the American people well,\u2019 Emmer added.<\/p>\n<div class=\"embed-media twitter\">\n<div class=\"tweet-embed\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Rep. Byron Donalds, R-Fla., who also ran for House speaker, wrote \u2018servant leadership,\u2019 with a picture of the new speaker\u2019s nameplate.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018God bless America,\u2019 Donalds wrote.<\/p>\n<div class=\"embed-media twitter\">\n<div class=\"tweet-embed\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Senator Ted Cruz, R-Texas, congratulated the new speaker in a Wednesday post, calling Johnson a \u2018good man and a friend.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u2018I look forward to working with him on passing conservative legislation, holding the Biden administration accountable, and delivering for the American people,\u2019 Cruz wrote.<\/p>\n<div class=\"embed-media twitter\">\n<div class=\"tweet-embed\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Mississippi Rep. Michael Guest, another Republican, lauded Johnson\u2019s election on Wednesday, calling the new speaker a \u2018humble, godly man who loves this great nation and who shares our conservative values.\u2019<\/p>\n<div class=\"embed-media twitter\">\n<div class=\"tweet-embed\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Additionally, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., said he looks \u2018forward to sitting down with Speaker Johnson to discuss a path forward to avoid a government shutdown.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u2018I will tell him as I say over and over again,\u2019 Schumer said. \u2018The only way to avoid a shutdown, pass a supplemental, and do things for the American people is bipartisan.\u2019<\/p>\n<div class=\"embed-media twitter\">\n<div class=\"tweet-embed\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Meanwhile, \u2018Squad\u2019 Rep.
