Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., accused a pro-Israel political action committee (PAC) of being an \u2018extremist organization\u2019 that \u2018destabilizes\u2019 American democracy.<\/p>\n<p class=\"speakable\">The leader of the progressive \u2018Squad\u2019 attacked the American-Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) on Tuesday night amid Israel\u2019s war with the Palestinian terrorist organization Hamas.<\/p>\n<p>Ocasio-Cortez \u2014 who accused Israel of committing \u2018war crimes\u2019 last month \u2014 accused the pro-Israel PAC of being \u2018racist\u2019 and \u2018bigoted\u2019 toward lawmakers of color.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Ocasio-Cortez also accused AIPAC of being an \u2018extremist organization that destabilizes US democracy.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u2018AIPAC endorsed scores of Jan 6th insurrectionists,\u2019 the Democratic Socialist of America (DSA) congresswoman said. \u2018They are no friend to American democracy.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u2018They are one of the more racist and bigoted PACs in Congress as well, who disproportionately target members of color,\u2019 she continued.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018They are an extremist organization that destabilizes US democracy,\u2019 she wrote.<\/p>\n<div class=\"embed-media twitter\">\n<div class=\"tweet-embed\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>AIPAC responded to Ocasio-Cortez\u2019s post, blasting the democratic socialist congresswoman over her peddling \u2018of the same tired lies [and] spin.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u2018[Ocasio-Cortez] and the Squad summed up: People who disagree with us are racist,\u2019 AIPAC posted on Wednesday. \u2018AIPAC stands with pro-Israel Democrats and Republicans of all races, genders, and backgrounds who support the US-Israel alliance.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u2018And we oppose those who don\u2019t, like you,\u2019 the group added.<\/p>\n<div class=\"embed-media twitter\">\n<div class=\"tweet-embed\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>AIPAC\u2019s website \u2014 which features Democrat Rep. Haley Stevens of Michigan on its \u2018About\u2019 page \u2014 says it works to bring \u2018together Democrats and Republicans to advance our shared mission\u2019 of advancing policies strengthening U.S.-Israel relations.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Building bipartisan support for the U.S.-Israel relationship is an American value we are proud to champion,\u2019 the website reads.<\/p>\n<p>Ocasio-Cortez\u2019s post came in response to a post from AIPAC criticizing the members of the \u2018Squad\u2019 \u2014 and Kentucky GOP Rep. Thomas Massie \u2014 for voting against the House resolution standing with Israel in the country\u2019s war against Hamas.<\/p>\n<p>The \u2018Squad\u2019 member and her progressive colleagues have been vocal critics of Israel amid the Middle Eastern democracy\u2019s war against Palestinian terrorists who sparked the conflict with their October 7 surprise terrorist attack on civilians.<\/p>\n<p>Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., spoke at a pro-Hamas protest on Capitol Hill last month, leading to the introduction of a censure resolution from Georgia GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene.<\/p>\n<p>Greene\u2019s resolution accused Tlaib of \u2018antisemitic activity\u2019 and \u2018sympathizing with terrorist organizations\u2019 for her role in the protest and past antisemitic rhetoric.<\/p>\n<p>Tlaib, like Ocasio-Cortez and several other House Democrats, is a member of the DSA, which has seen the departure of a founding member over the group\u2019s \u2018morally bankrupt\u2019 response to Hamas\u2019 surprise terrorist attack.<\/p>\n<p>DSA founding member Maurice Isserman announced last month that he is leaving the organization for its response to Hamas\u2019 terrorist attack on Israeli civilians.<\/p>\n<p>Isserman, who is still described on the socialists\u2019 website as a founding member of DSA, penned a piece for The Nation headlined, \u2018Why I Just Quit DSA.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u2018I left to protest the DSA leadership\u2019s politically and morally bankrupt response to the horrific Hamas October 7 anti-Jewish pogrom that took the lives of 1,400 people, mostly civilians, and saw over 200 hostages carried off to Gaza, both groups of victims including children and infants,\u2019 he wrote.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Its statement on October 7 made no mention\u2014let alone offering any criticism\u2014of Hamas, declaring instead, \u2018Today\u2019s events are a direct result of Israel\u2019s apartheid regime\u2014a regime that receives billions in funding from the United States,\u2019\u2019 he continued.<\/p>\n<p>However, even among the anti-Israel rhetoric from the DSA and its members and the departure of a founding member over the issue, the socialist organization and progressive organizations have evaded being labeled hate groups.<\/p>\n<p>The Southern Poverty Law Center, a\u00a0left-wing organization\u00a0that tracks and labels so-called \u2018hate groups\u2019 across the country, is remaining silent on whether Black Lives Matter (BLM) or the DSA actions following Hamas\u2019s deadly attack on Israelis raise \u2018hate\u2019 concerns.<\/p>\n<p>BLM Grassroots called the Iran-backed terrorist group\u2019s attacks \u2018desperate acts of self-defense.\u2019 The DSA promoted a New York City pro-Hamas rally and said the incursion was a \u2018direct result of Israel\u2019s apartheid regime.\u2019\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Demonstrators at the rally burned and stomped on an Israeli flag and taunted supporters of Israel with an image of a swastika.
