Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., said Tuesday the behavior of lawmakers in the upper chamber is not his responsibility after he was questioned about his role in lowering the temperature of his party.<\/p>\n
\u2018Very difficult to control the behavior of everybody who\u2019s in the building,\u2019 McConnell told reporters after the GOP conference\u2019s weekly luncheon. \u2018I don\u2019t view that as my responsibility.\u2019\u00a0<\/p>\n
He added, \u2018That\u2019s something that the Capitol Police have to deal with.\u2019<\/p>\n

The senator\u2019s comments come after Sen. Markwayne Mullin, R-Okla., stood up and threatened to fight a labor leader during a Senate Health Committee hearing on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
\u2018Sir, this is a time, this is a place, you want to run your mouth we can be two consenting adults and we can finish it here,\u2019 Mullin told Teamster President Sean O\u2019Brien during a Senate Health Committee hearing on Tuesday after reading a tweet where O\u2019Brien said he could take the senator \u2018any time\u2019 or \u2018any place.\u2019<\/p>\n
\u2018OK, that\u2019s fine, perfect,\u2019 O\u2019Brien responded.<\/p>\n
\u2018You want to do it now?\u2019 Mullin asked.<\/p>\n
\u2018I would love to do it right now,\u2019 O\u2019Brien said, prompting Mullin to say, \u2018Well, stand your butt up then.\u2019<\/p>\n
\u2018You stand your butt up, big guy,\u2019 O\u2019Brien said, at which point Mullin, a former MMA fighter, stood up in his chair and seemed to be trying to make his way over to the union president.<\/p>\n
\u2018Stop it, hold it, no, no, sit down,\u2019 Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., the chairman of the committee, said in an attempt to calm the pair down. \u2018You\u2019re a United States senator. Sit down.\u2019<\/p>\n
Both Mullin and O\u2019Brien asked permission from Sanders to respond to each other after Mullin sat down, but Sanders denied the request.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Mullin and O\u2019Brien have previously gone head-to-head, throwing jabs at each other through social media during the summer.\u00a0<\/p>\n
