{"id":12546,"date":"2023-12-06T01:46:16","date_gmt":"2023-12-06T01:46:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/shareperformanceinsight.com\/index.php\/2023\/12\/06\/speaker-johnson-hits-back-at-house-gop-critics-in-closed-door-meeting\/"},"modified":"2023-12-06T01:46:16","modified_gmt":"2023-12-06T01:46:16","slug":"speaker-johnson-hits-back-at-house-gop-critics-in-closed-door-meeting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/shareperformanceinsight.com\/index.php\/2023\/12\/06\/speaker-johnson-hits-back-at-house-gop-critics-in-closed-door-meeting\/","title":{"rendered":"Speaker Johnson hits back at House GOP critics in closed-door meeting"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"speakable\"><strong>FIRST ON FOX: <\/strong>Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., hit back at his critics within the GOP Conference at a closed-door member meeting on Tuesday morning.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"speakable\">Three sources who were in the room told Fox News Digital that Johnson said something to the effect of, \u2018We shouldn\u2019t go out and tackle our quarterback before we even run the play.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>All three sources said it was in response to the public criticism beginning to emerge as old House GOP fractures that were temporarily pushed back by Johnson\u2019s election as speaker resurface.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s a notable acknowledgment of the blowback from Johnson, who has not spoken publicly about any frustrations with wayward members of his conference.<\/p>\n<p>Rep. Max Miller, R-Ohio, said he would give Johnson a \u2018D-minus\u2019 grade as speaker in comments to reporters last week.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018I\u2019ve lost a lot of faith,\u2019 Miller said after another closed-door Republican Conference meeting. \u2018He was never morally convicted in his values to begin with, since the six years he\u2019s been here as a member. So is that someone I\u2019m going to follow to the gates of hell and trust to go conference with the Senate? Absolutely not.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Miller also unleashed on Johnson in an interview with Politico, calling him a \u2018joke.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., has also been a sharp critic of Johnson\u2019s decisions as speaker.
