{"id":13774,"date":"2024-01-09T13:48:35","date_gmt":"2024-01-09T13:48:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/shareperformanceinsight.com\/index.php\/2024\/01\/09\/us-citizen-detained-in-russia-on-alleged-drug-charges-moscow-court-says\/"},"modified":"2024-01-09T13:48:35","modified_gmt":"2024-01-09T13:48:35","slug":"us-citizen-detained-in-russia-on-alleged-drug-charges-moscow-court-says","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/shareperformanceinsight.com\/index.php\/2024\/01\/09\/us-citizen-detained-in-russia-on-alleged-drug-charges-moscow-court-says\/","title":{"rendered":"US citizen detained in Russia on alleged drug charges, Moscow court says"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\">      A US citizen has been arrested in Moscow on drug-related charges, according to an official statement released Tuesday.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\">      The citizen, named as Robert Woodland, is accused of preparing and attempting a crime, as well as illegally dealing with drugs.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\">      \u201cBy a resolution of the Ostankino District Court of Moscow dated January 6, 2024, Woodland Robert Romanov was given a preventive measure in the form of detention for a period of 2 months, that is, until March 5, 2024,\u201d the Russian court\u2019s statement reads.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\">      Pro-Kremlin tabloid Komosomolskaya Pravda reported earlier that Woodland is an US citizen of Russian origin, who was adopted by scientists from the US and 27 years later returned to Russia.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\">      Last month Yuri Malev, a Russian-US dual national, was detained in St. Petersburg over accusations he showed \u201cclear disrespect\u201d toward the military and was therefore \u201cvindicating Nazism\u201d in social media posts, the Smolninsky District Court said in statement.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\">      That arrest followed a string of high-profile detentions of US citizens and dual nationals in Russia, including Evan Gershkovich, a Wall Street Journal reporter. The US classifies Gershkovich as wrongfully detained.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\">      <em>This is a developing story.
