Former President Obama is becoming increasingly anxious about the closeness of the 2024 presidential election and fears former President Trump could take back the White House, according to a report.<\/p>\n
Former Attorney General Eric Holder, one of Obama\u2019s closest confidants, told USA Today that if Trump were to win the Republican nomination and beat President Biden this November, there could be \u2018incalculable damage\u2019 brought upon the country.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Holder confirmed Obama \u2018absolutely\u2019 holds the same views when asked by the publication.<\/p>\n
\u2018I think that\u2019s what motivates him. I think that\u2019s what will continue to motivate him,\u2019 Holder responded.<\/p>\n
Individuals within Obama\u2019s inner orbit further said he believes the race would be extremely close, according to USA Today. Due to this, Obama will try to \u2018move the needle\u2019 toward Biden with calculated moments throughout the campaign.<\/p>\n
Others said Obama thinks the 2024 landscape has \u2018major structural advantages that will favor Republicans\u2019 and\u00a0believes Trump\u00a0winning again would be \u2018dangerous.\u2019<\/p>\n
\u2018President Obama is going to do everything he can to help in that regard, and that means campaigning, but it also means sharing strategic advice with [Biden],\u2019 Holder\u00a0told the publication. \u2018And who better than President Obama to be a primary advisor to the campaign?\u2019<\/p>\n
The\u00a0former president\u2019s\u00a0unease comes on the heels of his wife, former first lady Michelle Obama, saying she is \u2018terrified\u2019 about what could happen in the 2024 election.\u00a0<\/p>\n
During a recent podcast appearance, Michelle Obama was asked about what keeps her up at night and her biggest fear.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u2018It has less to do with me personally and more to do with the world that we\u2019re in,\u2019 she responded. \u2018There\u2019s such thing as \u2018knowing too much,\u2019 and when you\u2019ve been married to the President of the United States who knows everything about everything in the world, sometimes you just want to turn it off.\u2019<\/p>\n
While she noted concerns ranging from wars across various regions and the future of artificial intelligence to climate change and voter turnout as being problems on her mind, America\u2019s upcoming presidential election remains chief among them.<\/p>\n
\u2018Those are the things that keep me up, because you don\u2019t have control over them. And you wonder, where are we in this? Where are our hearts? What\u2019s gonna happen in this next election?\u2019 she said. \u2018I am terrified about what could possibly happen, because our leaders matter. Who we select, who speaks for us, who holds that bully pulpit affects us in ways that sometimes I think people take for granted.\u2019<\/p>\n
