Former President Trump, if elected to a second term, said he would alleviate the \u2018chaos\u2019 brought to the nation by the Biden administration by securing the southern border, bringing America back to energy independence, strengthening the economy and expanding and strengthening the military.<\/p>\n

Trump, the 2024 GOP frontrunner, participated in a Fox News Town Hall Wednesday night in Des Moines, Iowa, just days before the highly-anticipated first-in-the-nation primary contests in the Hawkeye State on Jan. 15.<\/p>\n

Trump, who leads the Republican primary field by a massive margin, stands at or above 50% support in the latest polls in Iowa.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The town hall was co-moderated by \u2018Special Report\u2019 chief political anchor Bret Baier and \u2018The Story\u2019 executive editor and anchor Martha MacCallum.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Trump took questions from Iowa voters on a number of issues, but said President Biden has brought \u2018chaos\u2019 to the country.<\/p>\n

\u2018They have chaos at the border. They have chaos in the military. People are going woke,\u2019 Trump said. \u2018We have chaos now. Look at today with Hunter Biden going into Congress and just sitting down and the bedlam that\u2019s been caused today. You have chaos.\u2019\u00a0<\/p>\n

Trump said the country has \u2018more\u2019 chaos with Biden than under his presidency.<\/p>\n

\u2018He can\u2019t put two sentences together and he\u2019s representing us on nuclear weapons with Putin and Xi and all of these very smart people\u2014the media hates when I say they\u2019re smart, but let me tell you, they\u2019re very smart and they\u2019re very cunning,\u2019 Trump said.<\/p>\n

\u2018I think we had very little chaos,\u2019 Trump said, reflecting on his administration. \u2018I think most of the chaos was caused by the Democrats constantly going after me.\u2019\u00a0<\/p>\n

Trump went on to point to the \u2018phony Russia, Russia, Russia\u2019 investigation; his impeachments;\u00a0 and more.<\/p>\n

\u2018They had the chaos. They were the ones that caused the chaos,\u2019 Trump said. \u2018We didn\u2019t have chaos.\u2019\u00a0<\/p>\n

Trump said that under his presidency, the United States saw the \u2018biggest tax cuts in history\u2019 and \u2018the biggest regulation cuts in history.\u2019\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u2018I had no wars. I\u2019m the only president in 72 years\u2014I didn\u2019t have any wars,\u2019 Trump said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

But Trump said Biden and Democrats use the \u2018narrative\u2019 that he would bring chaos \u2018because they have nothing else.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u2018The new narrative they have, as you know, is I\u2019m going to be a dictator, because a guy like Biden, there\u2019s nothing he can run on\u2014everything he\u2019s turned out, it\u2019s turned out badly,\u2019 Trump said.<\/p>\n

Trump said under Biden, the border \u2018is a disaster\u2019 and \u2018the worst border in history.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u2018I think the worst border in the history of the world,\u2019 Trump said.<\/p>\n

In Fiscal Year 2023 alone, border officials encountered nearly 2.5 million migrant encounters at the southern border\u2013including 600,000 getaways, and 249 people on the terror watch list.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The GOP frontrunner said that if elected, his second term would begin by \u2018immediately\u2019 terminating \u2018every open borders policy of the Biden administration.\u2019<\/p>\n

In September, Trump announced his plans to carry out \u2018the largest domestic deportation operation in American history\u2019 if he is elected to a second term.<\/p>\n

Additionally, he plans to \u2018invoke the Alien Enemies Act to remove all known or suspected Gang Members, drug dealers, or Cartel Members from the United States\u2019\u2014an effort he says will end the \u2018scourge of illegal alien gang violence once and for all.\u2019<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Trump was asked to respond to Biden\u2019s claims, and to say that political violence is \u2018never acceptable.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u2018Well, of course, that\u2019s right,\u2019 Trump said. \u2018And of course, I\u2019m the one who had very little of it. Take a look at wars again\u2014I didn\u2019t start\u2014I wasn\u2019t involved in wars. We beat the hell out of ISIS. We won 100%. We brought our troops back home.\u2019<\/p>\n

He added: \u2018Look at the violence that we\u2019ve had recently.\u2019<\/p>\n

Trump went on to say that Biden\u2019s presidency is \u2018bedlam.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u2018You have a man who can\u2019t lead. You have a man who can\u2019t find his way off a stage after he makes a speech that lasts for about two minutes,\u2019 Trump said. \u2018Now, I think bedlam is Joe Biden.\u2019<\/p>\n

Trump said Biden is using a \u2018political ploy\u2019 by claiming that he \u2018wants to be a dictator.\u2019<\/p>\n

But as for being a \u2018dictator,\u2019 Trump joked that he would be\u2014but only for one day.<\/p>\n

\u2018I\u2019m going to be a dictator for one day. We\u2019re going to do two things: the border\u2014we\u2019re going to make it so tight, you can\u2019t get in unless you come in legally\u2014and the other, we\u2019re going to drill, baby, drill,\u2019 Trump said. \u2018After that, I\u2019m not going to be a dictator after that. I\u2019m not going to be a dictator.\u2019<\/p>\n

But Trump, who said he has \u2018gotten to know Washington,\u2019 and who said \u2018everybody wants to come work for us\u2019 in a possible second term, said he was \u2018not going to have time for retribution.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u2018I\u2019m not going to have time for retribution,\u2019 Trump said. \u2018We\u2019re going to make this country so successful again. I\u2019m not going to have time for retribution.\u2019\u00a0<\/p>\n

He added: \u2018And remember this, our ultimate retribution is success\u2026There won\u2019t be retribution. There will be success.\u2019<\/p>\n

Moving onto the economy, Trump said it is \u2018horrible, except the stock market\u2019s going up.\u2019\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u2018And I think the stock market\u2019s got markets going up because I\u2019m leading Biden in all of the polls\u2013 every poll, every single poll for in states that normally are not easy to lead,\u2019 Trump said. \u2018But I would say this we have a situation in which I believe the stock market goes up because I\u2019m leading. I think if I wasn\u2019t leading, the stock market would be 25% lower. And I think, frankly, if I didn\u2019t win, I think the stock market would crash.\u2019\u00a0<\/p>\n

Moderator Bret Baier pointed to comments Trump made this month in which he said if there is a crash of the stock market, he hoped it would be during \u2018this next 12 months because I don\u2019t want to be Herbert Hoover. The one president I just don\u2019t want to be, Herbert Hoover.\u2019<\/p>\n

On Wednesday, Trump clarified, saying that he believes \u2018there will be a crash if I don\u2019t win.\u2019\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u2018And I say that and I do not want to be Herbert Hoover. You know, Herbert Hoover was 1929. He was the president. And that was not a good time to be. I don\u2019t want to be Herbert Hoover and I won\u2019t be Herbert Hoover,\u2019 Trump said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Trump has been criticized as a \u2018big government Republican\u2019 by his GOP opponents for adding $8 trillion to the national debt during his tenure, but he defended his record\u2013especially during the coronavirus pandemic.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u2018I say very simply, we were starting to pay down debt,\u2019 Trump said. \u2018We were going to pay down a lot of debt when COVID came along. If I didn\u2019t inject this country with money, you would have had a depression, the likes of which you have never seen.\u2019<\/p>\n

Trump continued, \u2018You had to inject money. We gave businesses that were going bankrupt, temporarily bankrupt, but they needed money. We helped businesses. If I didn\u2019t do that, you would have had a depression in this country. That was a very good investment. And now what they should be doing instead of the kind of debt that they\u2019re building at record levels, they should be paying down their debt and they ought to go into the energy business instead of this Green New Scam business that they\u2019re in.\u2019<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, as for a running mate, Trump said he\u2019s already made his pick.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u2018I can\u2019t tell you that really, I mean, I know who it\u2019s going to be,\u2019 Trump said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u2018We\u2019ll do another show sometime,\u2019 Trump said when pushed by host Martha MacCallum to \u2018give us a hint.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u2018What about any of the people who you\u2019ve run against?\u2019 MacCallum asked. \u2018Would you be open to mending fences with any of them?\u2019<\/p>\n

\u2018Oh, sure. I will, I will,\u2019 Trump responded.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
