{"id":14752,"date":"2024-01-28T12:54:37","date_gmt":"2024-01-28T12:54:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/shareperformanceinsight.com\/index.php\/2024\/01\/28\/protesters-hurl-soup-at-the-mona-lisa-painting-in-paris\/"},"modified":"2024-01-28T12:54:37","modified_gmt":"2024-01-28T12:54:37","slug":"protesters-hurl-soup-at-the-mona-lisa-painting-in-paris","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/shareperformanceinsight.com\/index.php\/2024\/01\/28\/protesters-hurl-soup-at-the-mona-lisa-painting-in-paris\/","title":{"rendered":"Protesters hurl soup at the Mona Lisa painting in Paris"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\">      Protesters hurled soup at the Mona Lisa painting in Paris on Sunday, but did not seem hit directly as it is protected by a clear casing.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\">      An environmental group has said two protesters involved with their campaign were behind the vandalism.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\">      On X, formerly Twitter, Riposte Alimentaire, which roughly translates to \u201cFood Response,\u201d wrote that \u201c2 citizens involved with the new Riposte Alimentaire campaign sprayed soup on the world-famous \u2018Mona Lisa\u2019 painting on display at the Louvre Museum.\u201d  <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\">      Leonardo da Vinci\u2019s masterpiece hangs in the Louvre museum and is arguably the most famous painting in the world, drawing millions of visitors each year who line up to pose with the small artwork, which is just over 2.5 feet tall and under 2 feet wide.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\">      The enigmatic portrait is no stranger to both vandalism and thievery.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\">      It was stolen in 1911 by a Louvre employee, raising its international profile, and the bottom of the canvas suffered an acid attack in the 1950s, leading the museum to beef up protective measures surrounding the work, including bulletproof glass.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\">      In 2009, a woman angrily threw a ceramic cup at the painting, breaking the cup but leaving the painting unharmed.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\">      Then in 2022,\u00a0a visitor smeared frosting all over the Renaissance-era painting\u2019s protective glass.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\">      This is a developing story and will be updated.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\">      <em>With previous reporting by Jacqui Palumbo<\/em>  <\/p>\n\n<div>This post appeared first on cnn.com<\/div>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Protesters hurled soup at the Mona Lisa painting in Paris on Sunday, but did not seem hit directly as it is protected by a clear casing.
