{"id":15080,"date":"2024-02-04T12:48:26","date_gmt":"2024-02-04T12:48:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/shareperformanceinsight.com\/index.php\/2024\/02\/04\/at-least-28-killed-in-strike-on-russian-occupied-town-in-eastern-ukraine\/"},"modified":"2024-02-04T12:48:26","modified_gmt":"2024-02-04T12:48:26","slug":"at-least-28-killed-in-strike-on-russian-occupied-town-in-eastern-ukraine","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/shareperformanceinsight.com\/index.php\/2024\/02\/04\/at-least-28-killed-in-strike-on-russian-occupied-town-in-eastern-ukraine\/","title":{"rendered":"At least 28 killed in strike on Russian-occupied\u00a0town in eastern Ukraine"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\">            At least 28 have been killed in an attack on a building in the town of\u00a0Lysychansk\u00a0in the Russian-occupied region of Luhansk in eastern Ukraine, the region\u2019s Moscow-installed head said Sunday.    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\">            In a statement on Telegram, the head of self-proclaimed Luhansk People\u2019s Republic\u00a0Leonid Pasechnik said emergency services had rescued 10 people from under the rubble after what he said was a Ukrainian attack on a building housing a bakery on Saturday.    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\">            Pasechnik said Sunday has been declared a day of mourning in the Luhansk People\u2019s Republic for the victims of the attack.    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\">            Ukraine\u2019s defense ministry has not commented on the incident.    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\">            Lysychansk was taken over by Russian forces in July 2022, becoming the last town in the key region of Luhansk in eastern Ukraine to fall.    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\">            Ukraine has been escalating its attacks on Russia and Russian-controlled territory as its ground offensive stalls.    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\">            Earlier this week, Ukraine\u2019s\u00a0military intelligence says it sank a Russian warship off the coast of Crimea, landing the latest in a series of blows to Russia\u2019s\u00a0Black Sea Fleet.    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\">            Last month, the Russian Defense Ministry said it\u00a0stopped Ukrainian drones headed toward Moscow and\u00a0St\u00a0Petersburg. Also in January, an oil depot was set ablaze\u00a0as a result\u00a0of\u00a0a\u00a0Ukrainian drone\u00a0strike\u00a0in Russia\u2019s\u00a0Bryansk region,\u00a0bordering Ukraine, according to authorities.    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\">            In December, Ukraine launched an attack on the Russian border city of Belgorod, killing at least 24 and wounding 108 others. Russia responded with retaliatory strikes on Kharkiv.    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\">            It comes as Russian forces are working hard to break through Ukraine\u2019s defenses on the battlefield.
