{"id":15352,"date":"2024-02-10T12:49:31","date_gmt":"2024-02-10T12:49:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/shareperformanceinsight.com\/index.php\/2024\/02\/10\/biden-official-claims-special-counsel-report-was-comey-moment\/"},"modified":"2024-02-10T12:49:31","modified_gmt":"2024-02-10T12:49:31","slug":"biden-official-claims-special-counsel-report-was-comey-moment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/shareperformanceinsight.com\/index.php\/2024\/02\/10\/biden-official-claims-special-counsel-report-was-comey-moment\/","title":{"rendered":"Biden official claims special counsel report was \u2018Comey moment\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p class=\"speakable\">An unidentified Biden official compared Special Counsel Robert Hur\u2019s decision not to recommend criminal charges against the president to a similar decision made during investigations into former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.<\/p>\n<p class=\"speakable\">Hur did not recommend charges against President Biden after a monthslong investigation into the president\u2019s alleged improper retention of classified records \u2014 despite finding \u2018evidence that President Biden willfully retained and disclosed classified materials after his vice presidency when he was a private citizen.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u2018It felt like a Comey moment for me,\u2019 the Biden official reportedly told Politico.<\/p>\n<p>The official was comparing the Biden report to a similar document filed in 2016 by then-FBI Director James Comey.<\/p>\n<p>Comey, investigating whether then-presidential candidate Hillary Clinton improperly handled classified document, did not recommend charges despite \u2018evidence of potential violations.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Both investigators cited the unlikelihood of successfully bringing charges against the individuals and the logistical nightmare of making the charges as reason not to act.<\/p>\n<p>The Biden official speculated to Politico that Hur pushed his \u2018thumb on the scale during an election season\u2019 with his decision.<\/p>\n<p>Biden lashed out Thursday night at reporters following an address where he remained defiant following the release of Hur\u2019s damning report, which fueled more questions about his mental acuity.<\/p>\n<p>Biden got into a combative exchange with CNN correspondent MJ Lee, who pressed him on his previous comments urging Americans to \u2018watch me\u2019 when he was asked about his age.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Many [of the] American people have been watching, and they have expressed concerns about your age,\u2019 Lee said.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018That is your judgment!\u2019 Biden shouted at her. \u2018That is your judgment!
