{"id":15816,"date":"2024-02-20T12:48:09","date_gmt":"2024-02-20T12:48:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/shareperformanceinsight.com\/index.php\/2024\/02\/20\/ashley-biden-pays-off-thousands-owed-in-taxes-latest-filing-shows\/"},"modified":"2024-02-20T12:48:09","modified_gmt":"2024-02-20T12:48:09","slug":"ashley-biden-pays-off-thousands-owed-in-taxes-latest-filing-shows","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/shareperformanceinsight.com\/index.php\/2024\/02\/20\/ashley-biden-pays-off-thousands-owed-in-taxes-latest-filing-shows\/","title":{"rendered":"Ashley Biden pays off thousands owed in taxes, latest filing shows"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<div class=\"paywall has-gated-overlay gated-article-body\">\n<p class=\"speakable\">President Biden\u2019s daughter, Ashley Biden, paid off thousands in taxes owed since 2015, Pennsylvania Department of Revenue filings show.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"speakable\">As of Jan. 3 at 12:30 a.m., the Department of Revenue updated Ashley\u2019s docket to \u2018satisfaction filed,\u2019 indicating the previous lien notification \u2018should be removed from the court records\u2019 in Philadelphia County.<\/p>\n<p>On Dec. 18, Fox News Digital first reported Ashley\u2019s tax delinquency after the issuance of a tax lien at the start of the month, indicating unpaid taxes totaling $4,985 plus a filing fee of $94.44, totaling $5,079.<\/p>\n<p>A tax lien is a legal claim imposed by the government on a property or assets to secure unpaid taxes after repeated attempts to collect.<\/p>\n<p>On Dec. 1, the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue in Philadelphia County notified Ashley Biden that the \u2018amount of such unpaid tax, interest, additions or penalties is a lien in favor of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania upon the taxpayer\u2019s property \u2013 real, personal, or both \u2013 as the case may be,\u2019 according to the notice.<\/p>\n<p>The period start date listed on the lien begins Jan. 1, 2015 \u2013 when Joe Biden was vice president in the Obama administration \u2013 and ends Jan. 1, 2021, days before he was sworn in as president.<\/p>\n<p>Ashley Biden\u2019s attorney and the White House did not respond to Fox News Digital\u2019s multiple requests for comment.<\/p>\n<p>Ashley worked as a social worker in the Delaware Department of Services for Children, Youth and Their Families from 2007 to 2012. She received her master\u2019s degree in social work from University of Pennsylvania\u2019s School of Social Policy and Practice in 2010.<\/p>\n<p>In 2017, while working at the Delaware Center for Justice \u2013 a nonprofit criminal justice reform organization \u2013 she launched a charitable fashion brand, Livelihood. In 2019, she left her job at the Delaware Center for Justice to help her father\u2019s presidential campaign.<\/p>\n<p>Garrett Ziegler, one of the board members of the nonprofit Marco Polo and former President Trump aide, told Fox News Digital in a statement Monday that \u2018Marco\u00a0Polo\u00a0is pleased that Ashley has come into compliance with the law.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Ziegler, who Hunter Biden is suing for leaking the contents of his infamous laptop, first notified Fox News Digital about the tax filings.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018However, to be clear, as a social worker who has had to deal with adversity and trauma from her past \u2026 and as the wife of a prominent surgeon, Ashley should have never had to deal with this \u2014 the people in her life should have done a better job of helping with her financial affairs,\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n<p>Ashley\u2019s brother, Hunter Biden, meanwhile, allegedly carried out a multiyear scheme to bypass paying $1.4 million in federal taxes while living an\u00a0indulgent lifestyle\u00a0that included spending significant sums on escorts and illegal drugs, according to his California indictment on nine tax-related charges.<\/p>\n<p>Special Counsel David Weiss said he \u2018engaged in a four-year scheme to not pay at least $1.4 million in self-assessed federal taxes he owed for tax years 2016 through 2019, from in or about January 2017 through in or about October 15, 2020, and to evade the assessment of taxes for tax year 2018 when he filed false returns in or about February 2020,\u2019 which was in the middle of his father\u2019s presidential campaign.<\/p>\n<p>Weiss added that in \u2018furtherance of that scheme,\u2019 Hunter Biden \u2018subverted the payroll and tax withholding process of his own company, Owasco, PC by withdrawing millions\u2019 from the company \u2018outside of the payroll and tax withholding process that it was designed to perform.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Hunter Biden had allegedly \u2018spent millions of dollars on an extravagant lifestyle rather than paying his tax bills,\u2019 and in 2018, \u2018stopped paying his outstanding and overdue taxes for tax year 2015.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Fox News\u2019 Joe Schoffstall contributed to this report.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>This post appeared first on FOX NEWS<\/div>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>President Biden\u2019s daughter, Ashley Biden, paid off thousands in taxes owed since 2015, Pennsylvania Department of Revenue filings show.\u00a0 As of Jan. 3 at 12:30 a.m., the Department of Revenue updated Ashley\u2019s docket to \u2018satisfaction filed,\u2019 indicating the previous lien notification \u2018should be removed from the court records\u2019 in Philadelphia County.
