The First Sea Lord Admiral Sir Ben Key was also on board.    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\">            \u201cThe UK\u2019s nuclear deterrent remains safe, secure and effective,\u201d The Ministry of Defense spokesperson added.    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\">            \u201cHMS Vanguard and her crew have been proven fully capable of operating the UK\u2019s Continuous At-Sea Deterrent, passing all tests during a recent demonstration and shakedown operation (DASO) \u2013 a routine test to confirm that the submarine can return to service following deep maintenance work,\u201d the spokesperson said. \u201cThe test has reaffirmed the effectiveness of the UK\u2019s nuclear deterrent, in which we have absolute confidence.\u201d    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\">            Shapps is expected to present a written ministerial statement on Britain\u2019s nuclear deterrent to Parliament on Wednesday, according to the House of Commons order paper.    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\">            The opposition Labour Party called the reports of the Trident test failure \u201cconcerning.\u201d    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\">            \u201cThe Defence Secretary will want to reassure Parliament that this test has no impact on the effectiveness of the UK\u2019s deterrent operations,\u201d Labour\u2019s shadow Defense Secretary John Healey said.    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\">            The UK has four nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarines, each of which is armed with American-built Trident 2 D5 missiles, according to the Royal Navy.
