{"id":16244,"date":"2024-03-01T00:46:25","date_gmt":"2024-03-01T00:46:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/shareperformanceinsight.com\/index.php\/2024\/03\/01\/michigan-primaries-show-weak-spot-for-biden-deliver-yet-another-trump-win-over-haley\/"},"modified":"2024-03-01T00:46:25","modified_gmt":"2024-03-01T00:46:25","slug":"michigan-primaries-show-weak-spot-for-biden-deliver-yet-another-trump-win-over-haley","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/shareperformanceinsight.com\/index.php\/2024\/03\/01\/michigan-primaries-show-weak-spot-for-biden-deliver-yet-another-trump-win-over-haley\/","title":{"rendered":"Michigan primaries show weak spot for Biden, deliver yet another Trump win over Haley"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p class=\"speakable\"> Former President Trump landed yet another solid victory over Nikki Haley in the Michigan primary, but there was more drama on the Democratic side.<\/p>\n<p class=\"speakable\">A group of Democrats who started a movement in opposition to President Biden\u2019s support for Israel\u2019s war in Gaza sent a clear message in the Michigan primary, exceeding the amount of votes the group was aiming for and complicating the key battleground state ahead of this year\u2019s general election.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Yesterday was a resounding victory,\u2019 Dearborn Mayor Abdullah Hammoud, who joined the \u2018Listen to Michigan\u2019 movement, said during a news conference Wednesday claiming victory for the movement.<\/p>\n<p>The comments come following the movement\u2019s push to have Democratic voters select \u2018uncommitted\u2019 in Tuesday\u2019s Democratic primary surpassed the group\u2019s expectations, with just over 101,000 people selecting the option, according to Associated Press numbers as of Wednesday afternoon. That mark was more than 10 times the group\u2019s stated goal, which was to get 10,000 people, or roughly the same as the margin of victory in the 2016 election in the state, to select the option.<\/p>\n<p>Though two \u2018uncommitted\u2019 delegates from Michigan won\u2019t impact Biden\u2019s chances of winning the nomination at the Democratic National Convention this summer, it could presage a weak spot for the president heading into the general election.<\/p>\n<div class=\"flourish-embed flourish-chart\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"flourish-embed flourish-chart\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"flourish-embed flourish-chart\"><\/div>\n<p>A court in President Joe Biden\u2019s home state determined a state law allowing 10 days of early voting and permanent absentee voting violated the Delaware constitution.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>After coming into office in 2021, Biden regularly launched rhetorical bombs at Georgia and other states as being \u2018Jim Crow 2.0\u2019 or \u2018Jim Eagle,\u2019 for requiring voter ID for mail-in voting. However, Georgia allows three weeks of early voting.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Delaware Superior Court Judge Mark H. Conner ruled in a 25-page opinion, \u2018The\u00a0enactments of the General Assembly challenged today are inconsistent with our Constitution and therefore cannot stand.\u2019 Delaware\u2019s constitution in Article 5 Section 1 states that a \u2018general election shall be held biennially on the Tuesday next after the first Monday in the month of November.\u2019 The Delaware early voting law, enacted in 2019, allows in-person voting up to 10 days before an election.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u2018The conflict between these two passages is obvious,\u2019 the judge wrote. \u2018Our Constitution enumerates the one day an election shall be held biennially, and the Early Voting Statute allows for voting at least 10 days before that date.\u2019<\/p>\n<p> Several national polls in recent weeks suggest that President Biden is suffering from an enthusiasm gap when it comes to how excited his Democratic base and voters in general are about supporting him in November.<\/p>\n<p>A Monmouth University poll conducted earlier this month showed that only 32% of registered voters feel at least somewhat enthusiastic about Biden\u2019s candidacy and that number stands at just 62% among Democrats.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The same number of registered voters, 32%, say they are at least somewhat confident in Biden\u2019s physical and mental ability to be president. The same poll shows that confidence in Biden\u2019s abilities among Democrats has dropped significantly to 72% after standing at 91% in 2020.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"quote-text\">\u2018His inflation is a cancer on the American dream.
