Whether that deadline can be met remains uncertain. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has previously ruled out stoping the military campaign before Hamas is completely destroyed.    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\">            Hamdan on Tuesday also accused Israel of stalling on reaching an agreement and warned that the negotiations would not be \u201copen-ended\u201d as Israel continues its offensive in Gaza.    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\">            \u201cWe have affirmed our conditions for a ceasefire: complete withdrawal from the sector, the return of displaced persons to the areas they left, especially in the north, and the provision of sufficient aid, relief, and reconstruction,\u201d he said.    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\">            Reuters\u00a0and\u00a0Al Jazeera\u00a0reported\u00a0last week\u00a0that Hamas was reviewing a draft proposal for an initial ceasefire lasting roughly six weeks, during which 40 Israeli hostages would be exchanged for 400 Palestinian prisoners.    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\">            Hamdan\u2019s response came just hours after US President Joe Biden said a potential ceasefire was \u201cin the hands of Hamas\u201d as he boarded Air Force One at Hagerstown airport.    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\">            Biden said the \u201cIsraelis have been cooperating\u201d and that a ceasefire is necessary.    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\">            \u201cWe need a ceasefire,\u201d he said, calling the deal on the table a \u201crational offer\u201d and saying the Israelis had agreed to it.    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\">            \u201cWe have to see what Hamas does,\u201d he said.    <\/p>\n<h2 class=\"subheader\">    Race against the clock<\/h2>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\">            The Biden administration has been racing against the clock to secure a ceasefire before Ramadan, which is expected to begin March 10, fearing any aggressive military push by Israel during the Muslim holy month would only further inflame tensions across the region.    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\">            Biden said Tuesday that without a deal by Ramadan, the situation in Israel and specifically Jerusalem would be \u201cvery, very dangerous.\u201d    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\">            When Biden was asked about his relationship with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, he said it was \u201clike it\u2019s always been.\u201d And he repeated his assertion there were \u201cno excuses\u201d for Israel not to allow more aid into Gaza.    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\">            The US has become increasingly vocal about the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza, where the United Nations warns hundreds of thousands of people\u00a0are on the brink of famine\u00a0and US ally Israel continues to\u00a0obstruct the bulk of aid deliveries.    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\">            On Saturday, the US made its first\u00a0humanitarian airdrop into the\u00a0strip \u2014 66 bundles containing meals but no water or medical supplies, a US official\u00a0said.
