{"id":17108,"date":"2024-03-18T12:48:02","date_gmt":"2024-03-18T12:48:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/shareperformanceinsight.com\/index.php\/2024\/03\/18\/speaker-johnson-tells-republicans-campaigning-against-each-other-in-primaries-to-cool-it-report\/"},"modified":"2024-03-18T12:48:02","modified_gmt":"2024-03-18T12:48:02","slug":"speaker-johnson-tells-republicans-campaigning-against-each-other-in-primaries-to-cool-it-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/shareperformanceinsight.com\/index.php\/2024\/03\/18\/speaker-johnson-tells-republicans-campaigning-against-each-other-in-primaries-to-cool-it-report\/","title":{"rendered":"Speaker Johnson tells Republicans campaigning against each other in primaries to \u2018cool it\u2019: report"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"paywall has-gated-overlay gated-article-body\">\n<p class=\"speakable\">Speaker of the House Mike Johnson is telling Republicans who are going after sitting GOP lawmakers in contentious primaries to \u2018knock it off,\u2019 in order to tamp down on divisions within the party, according to a report.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"speakable\">Johnson, R-La., attended the House Republicans\u2019 annual member retreat at the Greenbrier Resort in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, last week to unify the often-fractious conference as at least four sitting Republicans in South Carolina, Illinois, Texas and Virginia are going to battle against Republican challengers.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018I\u2019ve asked them all to cool it,\u2019 Johnson told CNN during the retreat. \u2018I am vehemently opposed to member-on-member action in primaries because it\u2019s not productive.
