A Russian oil refinery in the southern Krasnodar region was impacted by a suspected Ukrainian drone attack on Saturday, according to\u00a0local officials. <\/p>\n
Regional governor Veniamin Kondratyev said Kyiv had launched the drones in the early hours of Saturday morning. <\/p>\n
Russian state media outlet TASS reported that the oil refinery, in Slavyansk-on-Kuban in Krasnodar Krai, had partially suspended operations, citing Eduard Trudnev, security director for the Slavyansk ECO Group, which runs the facility. <\/p>\n
Trudnev said work at the plant had been \u201cpartially suspended\u201d after 10 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) flew into the refinery, causing a fire to break out. <\/p>\n
\u201cThe presence of hidden damage is possible,\u201d said Trudnev. <\/p>\n
Russia\u2019s Ministry of Defense said on Saturday that Kyiv had launched 66 drones to attack the Krasnodar region,\u00a0but all were intercepted. <\/p>\n
Kondratyev\u00a0said there were no casualties due to the refinery fire. <\/p>\n
Meanwhile in Ukraine, four thermal energy plants were \u201cseverely damaged\u201d after Russian attacks overnight, according to a statement from\u00a0DTEK, Ukraine\u2019s largest private energy\u00a0company. <\/p>\n
The DTEK statement added that \u201cat this moment, power engineers are trying to eliminate the consequences of the attack.\u201d <\/p>\n
Ukraine\u2019s Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko posted on Facebook that \u201cfacilities in Dnipropetrovsk, Ivano-Frankivsk,\u00a0and Lviv regions were attacked.\u201d <\/p>\n
A power engineer at one of the facilities suffered a concussion,\u00a0Halushchenko\u00a0said. <\/p>\n
Serhii Lysak, head of the Dnipropetrovsk regional military administration, said in an update on Telegram that the region had experienced a \u201cmassive attack.\u201d <\/p>\n
Although air defenses intercepted 13 missiles in Dnipro, Kryvyi Rih and Pavlohrad districts, energy facilities were damaged in Dnipro and Kryvyi Rih districts, triggering fires and injuring a 39-year-old man. Lysak also said there were \u201cinterruptions in the water supply in the Kryvyi Rih district.\u201d <\/p>\n
Svitlana Onyshchuk, head of the Ivano-Frankivsk regional military administration, said on Telegram on Saturday that a \u201ccritical infrastructure facility\u201d in the Carpathian region was struck, causing a fire that has since been put out. <\/p>\n
DTEK said that its thermal power plants have been attacked more than 170 times since the beginning of the war. <\/p>\n
Mykola Oleshchuk, Commander of the Ukrainian Air Force, said on Saturday that Russia had attacked Ukraine overnight with \u201c34\u00a0air-, land-, and sea-launched missiles,\u201d with 21 of those missiles intercepted. <\/p>\n
On Friday, patients\u00a0at two\u00a0Kyiv\u00a0hospitals\u00a0were evacuated after\u00a0Belarus\u00a0claimed soldiers were sheltering within, prompting fears in Ukraine of a possible attack on the facilities. <\/p>\n
A video surfaced online showing\u00a0the head\u00a0of\u00a0the\u00a0Belarusian KGB security service\u00a0alleging\u00a0the two medical facilities were housing\u00a0soldiers. <\/p>\n
Belarusian KGB\u00a0head Ivan Tertel claimed during a speech on Thursday that Ukrainian\u00a0fighters were \u201chiding behind the backs\u00a0of\u00a0children,\u201d and provided the addresses\u00a0of\u00a0the\u00a0two\u00a0hospitals\u00a0located in northeast\u00a0Kyiv. One\u00a0of\u00a0them is a children\u2019s hospital. <\/p>\n
\u201cThe enemy has practically announced its strike\u201d and \u201ceven named the addresses,\u201d\u00a0Kyiv\u00a0Mayor Vitali Klitschko said in response, calling\u00a0it \u201ca provocation used as a pretext for a strike on our social critical infrastructure.\u201d <\/p>\n
Fears\u00a0of\u00a0a\u00a0potential\u00a0attack\u00a0prompted authorities urgently to start moving\u00a0patients to other medical facilities in the Ukrainian capital. <\/p>\n
\u201cThis is an absolute lie and provocation\u00a0of\u00a0the enemy\u201d aimed to justify strikes at the social infrastructure\u00a0of\u00a0the capital, the\u00a0Kyiv\u00a0city administration said in a statement. <\/p>\n
Videos shared online showed medical personnel hurrying to move\u00a0patients\u00a0and equipment to ambulances that were awaiting to receive them. <\/p>\n
By Friday evening, all\u00a0patients\u00a0were successfully moved to other medical facilities,\u00a0Klitschko said, thanking the doctors, technical staff and ambulance workers for their \u201cprompt and well-coordinated work.\u201d <\/p>\n
The Security Service\u00a0of\u00a0Ukraine (SBU) also denounced the claim that\u00a0soldiers\u00a0were based at the\u00a0hospitals, calling it \u201ca manifestation\u00a0of\u00a0information and psychological special operations that play into the hands\u00a0of\u00a0Russia.\u201d <\/p>\n
Ukrainian authorities\u00a0are\u00a0yet to say whether the urgent transfer has resulted in complications for any\u00a0of\u00a0the\u00a0patients. <\/p>\n\n
