{"id":18843,"date":"2024-05-08T12:53:19","date_gmt":"2024-05-08T12:53:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/shareperformanceinsight.com\/index.php\/2024\/05\/08\/house-judiciary-committee-investigates-manipulated-evidence-seized-by-fbi-in-trump-classified-records-probe\/"},"modified":"2024-05-08T12:53:19","modified_gmt":"2024-05-08T12:53:19","slug":"house-judiciary-committee-investigates-manipulated-evidence-seized-by-fbi-in-trump-classified-records-probe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/shareperformanceinsight.com\/index.php\/2024\/05\/08\/house-judiciary-committee-investigates-manipulated-evidence-seized-by-fbi-in-trump-classified-records-probe\/","title":{"rendered":"House Judiciary Committee investigates \u2018manipulated\u2019 evidence seized by FBI in Trump classified records probe"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"speakable\">House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan is investigating whether evidence seized by the FBI in its raid on former President Trump\u2019s Mar-a-Lago home as part of special counsel Jack Smith\u2019s classified records case was \u2018altered or manipulated.\u2019<\/p>\n<p class=\"speakable\">Jordan, R-Ohio, sent a letter to the Office of Professional Responsibility this week after Smith admitted that seized documents are no longer in their original order and sequence.<\/p>\n<p>Smith and federal prosecutors admitted in a court filing on Friday that \u2018there are some boxes where the order of items within that box is not the same as in the associated scans.\u2019 The prosecutors had previously told the court that the documents were \u2018in their original, intact form as seized.\u2019\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u2018The Government acknowledges that this is inconsistent with what Government counsel previously understood and represented to the Court,\u2019 a footnote in the filing reads.\u00a0<\/p>\n<div class=\"embed-media twitter\">\n<div class=\"tweet-embed\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Jordan, in his letter, said the acknowledgment \u2018presents grave concerns\u2019 about the Justice Department\u2019s \u2018commitment to impartial justice, whether the Special Counsel\u2019s Office misled a federal court, whether the Special Counsel\u2019s Office strenuously upheld the \u2018highest professional standards\u2019 of the Department of Justice.\u2019\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Jordan is now asking the DOJ\u2019s Office of Professional Responsibility to \u2018hold accountable\u2019 attorneys who may have violated the standards.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Jordan is demanding that the office produce all documents and records referring or relating to any allegation of ethical impropriety regarding Smith, top prosecutor Jay Bratt or any other attorney assigned to the special counsel\u2019s office.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Jordan is also requesting all documents and records related to the \u2018manipulation\u2019 of documents seized from Trump\u2019s Mar-a-Lago residence in August 2022, among others, by May 20.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Jordan\u2019s investigation comes after Trump\u2019s co-defendants in the case asked for a delay as lawyers were having trouble figuring out the origin of some of the documents in the evidence boxes.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The FBI agents seized 33 boxes of documents in August 2022 from Trump\u2019s Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida, spurring another legal battle that Trump has called a \u2018scam.\u2019 The investigation is overseen by special prosecutor Smith, who Attorney General Merrick Garland appointed to the job, and has charged Trump with 40 felony counts, including allegedly violating the Espionage Act, making false statements to investigators and\u00a0conspiracy to obstruct justice.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Trump has pleaded not guilty to the charges and slammed the case as an \u2018Election Inference Scam\u2019 promoted by the Biden administration and \u2018Deranged Jack Smith.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>The case is slated to head to trial on May 20, though the date may change, with presiding Judge Aileen Cannon underacting a trove of documents in the lead-up to the trial that have provided notable updates to the case.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, after Smith\u2019s acknowledgment of the inconsistencies, former President Trump called for his arrest.\u00a0<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>\u2018Now, Deranged Jack has admitted in a filing in front of Judge Cannon to what I have been saying happened since the Illegal RAID on my home, Mar-a-Lago, in Palm Beach, Florida \u2013 That he and his team committed blatant Evidence Tampering by mishandling the very Boxes they used as a pretext to bring this Fake Case,\u2019 Trump posted to Truth Social on Friday. \u2018These deeply Illegal actions by the Politicized \u2018Persecutors\u2019 mandate that this whole Witch Hunt be DROPPED IMMEDIATELY.
