Former President Trump on Friday praised his 18-year-old son, Barron, as a \u2018smart one,\u2019 adding that the former first son likes to give his dad political advice.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u2018He\u2019s seen it, he doesn\u2019t have to hear it,\u2019 the 2024 presumptive Republican nominee told\u00a0Philadelphia\u2019s Talk Radio 1210 WPHT\u00a0after the host asked if he had advised Barron on \u2018how nasty\u2019 politics can be.<\/p>\n
\u2018He\u2019s a smart one,\u2019 Trump continued. \u2018He doesn\u2019t have to hear much, but he\u2019s a great guy. He\u2019s a little on the tall side. I will tell you, he\u2019s a tall one. But he\u2019s a good-looking guy, and he\u2019s really been a great student and he does like politics.\u2019<\/p>\n
He added that Barron, who will be able to vote for the first time this year after turning 18 in March, likes to give him political advice.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u2018It\u2019s sort of funny, he\u2019ll tell me sometimes, \u2018Dad, this is what you have to do.\u2019 So anyway, he\u2019s a good guy. He\u2019s a senior now in high school, and he\u2019ll be going to college.\u2019<\/p>\n
The 18-year-old had been selected as a delegate by the Florida Republican Party to the Republican National Convention, but declined it in a statement through his mother, Melania Trump\u2019s office.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u2018While Barron is honored to have been chosen as a delegate by the\u00a0Florida Republican Party, he regretfully declines to participate due to prior commitments,\u2019 the statement said.<\/p>\n
The Republican National Convention is scheduled from July 15 through July 18\u00a0in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.\u00a0<\/p>\n
His older children Eric, who is delegation chair, along with Donald Jr., his fianc\u00e9e Kimberly Guilfoyle, Tiffany and her husband, Michael Boulos, will serve as Florida delegates, according to The Hill.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n
