Former President Trump told Fox News Digital his guilty verdict is a \u2018scar\u2019 on the New York justice system, while vowing to \u2018keep fighting\u2019 and maintaining that Election Day will be \u2018the most important day in the history of our country.\u2019\u00a0<\/p>\n
The former president and presumptive Republican presidential nominee was found guilty on all 34 counts of falsifying business records in the first degree on Thursday after two days of jury deliberations.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The charges stemmed from a years-long investigation out of the Manhattan District Attorney\u2019s Office. The current DA, Alvin Bragg, took over the investigation in 2022.\u00a0<\/p>\n
In an exclusive interview with Fox News Digital shortly after the verdict, Trump said it is \u2018a sad day for New York and a sad day for the country.\u2019\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u2018The whole thing was rigged from day one \u2014 from the venue to the judge,\u2019 he told Fox News Digital. \u2018But I\u2019ve never had support like this.\u2019\u00a0<\/p>\n
Trump said upon returning to Trump Tower in midtown Manhattan Thursday evening, he was greeted by thousands of supporters \u2018going crazy.\u2019\u00a0<\/p>\n
Trump pointed to Judge Juan Merchan, saying he was \u2018conflicted,\u2019 and said the venue for the trial \u2014 Lower Manhattan \u2014 was \u2018about as bad as it could possibly be.\u2019\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u2018We couldn\u2019t get a fair trial,\u2019 Trump told Fox News Digital. \u2018It\u2019s a sad day for New York and a sad day for the country.\u2019\u00a0<\/p>\n
The former president said \u2018we have to think about how something like this could have happened to our country.\u2019<\/p>\n
\u2018We have a corrupt, Soros-backed DA \u2014 just think about what has happened to our country,\u2019 he said. \u2018It is hard to believe.\u2019\u00a0<\/p>\n
He added: \u2018It\u2019s a disgrace to the city, the state and the country.\u2019\u00a0<\/p>\n
But the former president and presumptive Republican presidential nominee stressed to Fox News Digital that he has \u2018never had support like I have now.\u2019\u00a0<\/p>\n
Trump\u2019s sentencing date is set for July 11 \u2014 just four days before the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, where he is expected to be formally nominated as the 2024 Republican presidential nominee.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u2018We\u2019ll go back and ask for a different day, but he\u2019ll say no,\u2019 Trump said, referring to Merchan. \u2018He just says no to everything. This guy never said yes to anything.\u2019<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Trump said he will \u2018keep fighting.\u2019\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u2018Of course,\u2019 Trump said. \u2018November 5th will be the most important day in the history of our country.<\/p>\n
\u2018We\u2019ll be fighting hard,\u2019 Trump said, saying he is excited to get back on the campaign trail.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u2018It\u2019s the first time in six weeks that I\u2019ve been able to get out of that courthouse,\u2019 he told Fox News Digital.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u2018This is a great scar on New York justice,\u2019 he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Trump campaign spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt told Fox News Digital that \u2018crooked Joe Biden and the Democrats confined President Trump to a courtroom for more than eight hours a day for more than six weeks and he\u2019s still winning.\u2019\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u2018Now that he is fully back on the campaign trial, Biden and the Democrats better buckle up,\u2019 she said. \u00a0<\/p>\n
Leavitt told Fox News Digital that Trump \u2018generated billions of dollars in earned media coverage throughout the trial; hosted massive rallies and impromptu campaign stops in New York and beyond; increased his lead over crooked Joe Biden in the polls and raised more money than Biden and the Democrats in the month of April \u2014 not even a witch hunt trial could slow him down \u2014 in fact, it only made him stronger.\u2019\u00a0<\/p>\n\n
